fwbuilder on Slack

Right, I know most people reckon that any firewall configs etc should all just be done through iptables commands, but I'm just trying to start teaching myself a bit more about firewalling etc, with the aim of really properly getting to know iptables later...

So I decided on fwbuilder. Two questions....

1. After installing libfwbuilder, I try to install fwbuilder using the 'make' command, and then get this... Any ideas? It's on a Slack 9 box. And yes, this is run as root.

# make
./maketar.sh fwbuilder 1.0.10
cd export; openssl md5 fwbuilder-1.0.10.tar.gz | sed 's/^MD5.*(/MD5 (/; s/)=/) =/' > ../OS/FreeBSD/distinfo
/bin/sh: line 1: ../OS/FreeBSD/distinfo: No such file or directory
make: *** [tar] Error 1

2. Could kick of a big discussion, but what deos everyone reckon is the best & quickest GUI-type / web-based firewall configuration tool out there?

Thanks as always, guys...
