Functional Equivalent to KPPP?

KPPP misbehaves when used in Xfce (as in, it won't die sometimes on exit). Is there an equivalent (not pppd -- this is for a non-techie user) of some sort that presents a similar interface? GNOME is pretty much out of the question and KDE isn't really attractive either.

The user does dial-up maybe once or twice a week. It's Slackware 14.0 32-bit, no other Internet access is available, really, no Wi-Fi, no cable, no clear shot to satellite, no nuthin' but a land line. I'd like to make it as easy as possible with an added plus of not having to deal remotely with an application that won't die on exit. Too, the box is not brain-dead, it's a two-core with 4G RAM and reasonably quick.

Here's a pretty good list of alternatives

gpppoe-conf may be the best for your user.

Chestnut Dialer is a good alternative to kppp.
