From DHCP to static IP.

Hi all, the 1st time i installed slackware 10.1 i configured the network stuff to give the slackware box its own IP (192.168.0.3) and the stuff (DNS etc) at my router (192.168.0.1) but after completing the install it wouldnt connect to any webpages, i messed things up a bit on that install so i went through again this time using DHCP, when finished i can now see websites etc. The problem is i want to get the box working using a static IP and i cant see anything for configuring that in the control center. Anyone know how to go about doing this? And maybe why it didnt work on the 1st install? (got a funny feeling it wont work when i tell it to use a static IP)

Any help appreciated,

Dave

Try to edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf and add your ISP nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf

You can easily work your ipconfig using
/sbin/netconfig

I use it when I switch between static ip and dhcp (two different locations) for my laptop.
