I added a brief page on docs.slackware.com about using GPT with traditional BIOS with a summary of the suggestions in this thread. That should assist further users who wonder about this in the future.

I just checked 14.0 and liloconfig configured GPT booting for me just fine. No idea what problem I had previously or that of the OP.
