Fox News Videos in Firefox
I can't seem to watch videos from Fox News. I can from all the other news sites. I am able to pull up video from Fox using Opera, just not FF.
I have searched the web for an answer - installing Greasemonkey and a Fox Friendly script to no avail. I do not use noscript, but I do use AdBlock. I even tried disabling AdBlock but that didn't work either. Konqueror does not work for Fox either. And during my search, solutions were from 2007 thru late 2009 - nothing more recent. Is it just Firefox, or is it Fox news? |
Hi -
Actually, that's a feature. Fox News has been clinically proven to lower your I.Q.; FF is carefully engineered to prevent that from happening ;) |

It is an option
Cannot resist...
It is set up that way by default to protect your system. To enable Fox News do this: Edit > Preferences > Content > Keyboard/screen barf protector > Disable You may also need to set Edit > Preferences > Content > Random valued inverse logic NULL truth mode > Enable |
While I tend to agree with the above responses........Foxnews.com works here. I can't say that I'll ever watch another foxnews.com video, but now I know I can should I choose to do so.

And all your comments help this person out how? He is here looking for help, not some jerks looking to diminish what he watches. I do think you all owe him an apology.
mlangdn, I tried to view a video and got an missing plugin error for flash/shockwave. Did you install it? If so, did you install the libs in the proper place? |
Well...

I think the humorous intent of the above posts was self evident and I would hope that the limited but (almost) always good natured humor expressed by memebrs of this forum does not become a matter of contention. Sorry I could not provide a useful answer mlangdn. |
I knew as soon as I posted that I would have to suffer through some political "humor". I don't mind the mindlessness. :)
Yes, Flash is installed. Like I said, it works with Opera, and I can watch other news site's videos, plus youtube, plus anything else I've tried in FF - just not Fox News. Oh well, the more I use Opera, the more its appeal. I'm just gonna have to skin it properly to make it easier to look at. |
I find it odd that it won't work in FF but it does play in Opera. As I stated above, it works fine here, even in the new multilib version that I installed. Does Opera install it's own plugins?

No problems here with Fox videos----FF 3.6, Flash 10.0r42
|
I'm using Flash 10.0r45, FF-3.6.3
Slackware64-current |
It was working with those specs here. It's now working under multilb as well with a 32 bit ff and flash 10.1 rc. I don't know that any of my extra codecs even work with this 32 bit version so I don't think that would be it. Do you have any special cookie or privacy settings?
|
No to special settings. Straight off the shelf defaults except for fonts and size. It's not a big deal since Opera works. I also have a problem with dishnetwork.com when trying to pay the bill. Opera works fine there. Another one of life's mysteries. I'll revisit this problem someday.

No problems here with Fox videos -FF 3.6+nobinonly-0ub, Flash 10.0.45.2-1, Opera 10.10.4742.gcc4qt. This is on a new install of Ubuntu 10.04. I am upgrading FF to 3.6.3 now and will see if I have problems.
No problems with FF 3.6.3 either. |
mlangdn, can you tell us what happens when you try to watch a Fox News video?
Have you tried disabling all your Firefox extensions? |
