If you really like a nice menu bar with super nice tabbing then xfce rules. I love the way you can always see tabs and nothing covers them. I can always get an wierd window to cover the bar in flux and I hate when that happens. Quote:

Okay, here you'll find packages for mrxvt:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/...GUIcomponents/ mrxvt-0.5.0-i486-1min.tgz is compiled iwth --enable-minimal mrxvt-0.5.0-i486-1full.tgz is compiled iwth --enable-everything If you want some other mix from 20-30 available options, you find the docs and sources here and roll your own: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/...als/mrxvt-0.5/ Very nice looking, I think I had tried this before and forgot about it. |

PS: I think you won me over on mrxvt, no more Konsole for me ;) thanks! ...aaron |
Randux, you should try my little ROX adaptation from here:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/...jects/AFX-ROX/ If you are using a later version back up rename your ~/Choices directory so the files don't get mixed. My version is the last GTK-1.2 vesrion plus with several patches from contribs who later joined the devel team, plus a couple of features that I've added, including using png's for mime-icons instead of xpm's. Don't expect compatibility with other's AppDirs, but I have some interesting ones there. You may need Xdialog for some of them. The GUI config programs are my hopeful suggestion for those who like them. I even found a nice program for managing users and groups: gUserMan. |
Yeah, mrxvt is an awesome little terminal, and the tabs make it truly sweet. I don't run KDE or Gnome either so a good independent terminal is always important. Glad to hear mrxvt meets your needs.

For those who ARE using KDE, there's Yakuake, which falls down like a Quake console whenever you press the magic key ("F12" by default). It's something which IMO should be included with KDE since it helps being like 70% more productive with it. It uses the Konsole libs for the terminal emulation and supports multiple tabls (just press SHIFT-UP to make a new one and SHIFT-LEFT/RIGHT to move between them).
There was a Slackpkg somewhere in http://www.kde-apps.org but it's like 2 or 3 versions behind the lastest. A must have if you like to use KDE. |
Download this term last night. And i like, nice and easy to use. Thanks for the post.
