Formating Raid drives

I'm wondering if there is any particular way to format raid drives.

I have 2 sata 80 GB drives set up in raid 0 (stripping).

WHen i dmesg, i see that they are idetified as sda and sdb.

So do i need to format both drives??? I was under the impression that if i was running in raid 0, i should only have to format one 160 gb partition.

help please.

man raidtab

make a /etc/raidtab
Code:
       raiddev /dev/md0
           raid-level 0
           nr-raid-disks 2
           persistent-superblock 0
           chunk-size 8

           device /dev/hda1
           raid-disk 0
           device /dev/hdb1
           raid-disk 1
fdisk your drives and make the partitions raid type: fd Linux raid autodetect
then run mkraid /dev/md0
mkfs.whatever /dev/md0
mount your /dev/md0

? no idea.... what's the practical difference between hardware and software raid?

i asume you need a driver for your raid hardware in the install bootdisk... and ehm... how does it work in say windows / redhat? if the hardware raid takes care of all the disk stuff. i think you only need to fdisk the drive and mkfs it... what's the kernel output on the hardware disks?
