For celebrating Programmers day

How do you think would it be great to have great tool slackpkg+ (http://slakfinder.org/slackpkg+.html) added main Slackware package tree? As on Friday will be Programmers day and its good oportunity to have this done on such a day.

Needs a 4th option for "Consideration taken and waits for Patrick's decision".

It's a good idea to expand SlackPkg's update system to where we could include repositories like AlienBOB's and Robby Workman's, but in all honesty, it breaks from the tradition of having a 3rd party where basically you rsync as needed.

To be honest, it feels like adding slapt and slapt-get which only feel like a redundancy. Don't get me wrong it's an ingenious idea, but it's just not really Slackware...

While I understand your reasoning I think it would be a good fit for /extra since it does de facto only extend slackpkg functionalities (from what I gathered slackpkg was written with this possibility in mind) but it is entirely optional and doesn't add any new layer of complexity.

I would also like to see it in /extra. slackpkg+ can't be redundant with slackpkg, it is a mere plugin for slackpkg.
Alo, speaking about redundancy, I can't see where not having redundancy is a goal of Slackware. Otherwise we would not have several browsers, mail-clients, text editors, ..., and even slackpkg is redundant, since all you can do with it can be done with the other software for package management.

'Programmers Day' On Friday the 13th? Dun dun duunnnnnn

Anyways /extra would be cool

I don't see any relation with introducing a package in Slackware and "programmers day"... Programmer is not the same as "system administrator" or "package manager" or whatever... A programmer writes programs... Why not add all programs in the world ?

Beside, I don't have any preference for slackpkg+ presence: I trust Pat so I tend to agree with ReaperX7...

Cheers.

Garry.
