fluxbox rxvt, paste to another app

Using fluxbox in 13.1
If I select text in rxvt and then click the mouse wheel it pastes the selection at the cursor. But apparently it does not use the clipboard to do this, because if I Ctrl-v into another app, say jedit, it doesnt paste the rxvt selection, it pastes the last thing that was put on the clipboard.

Is there any way to get rxvt to use the clipboard?

Can you paste 'the UNIX / X way' ?

1. Select Text
2. Click the 3rd button on your mouse(*)

* - the 3rd button on your mouse is a) the wheel ; b) 'left+right' buttons at once ; c) something else

Thank you so much, that does the trick. I guess Ctrl-c Ctrl-v is history.

Not if you use terminal. Go to "Edit" - "Preferences" and you can set CNTRL-C and CNTRL-V as your keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste respectively. (Works great in vi).

Are you sure you want to steal <Ctrl>-C from your terminal apps ?

That can be an important key from time-to-time <G>

If you are using console applications, that should be shift-insert, not CTRL-v

CNTRL-C still works in the usual way when I am not editing but I will keep this in mind if I run into problems.

Actually, CTRL-Insert, SHIFT-Insert or CTRL-Delete or SHIFT-Delete might be better buttons to use but I like to keep it consistent with mousepad.
