First Swaret, then Keybd and mouse, new kernel and USBs bite!

Hello Slackers,

I feel very lame not being able to find a tread that solves this problem already not because its not there (most likely it is)but because i cannot find the right thread. However i hope some nice guy can help...

Okay, here is the problem...you know this swaret thing? Yep! My linux box works like 98% efficient except that i have been trying to get microphone and speakers to obey me and not doing what they want. So i decided to "update the box". Well, afterwards when i run "startx" it tells me it cannot find the keyboard and the mouse moves in a quasi random mode.

Okay, i say to myself ...i got a bunch of flash card ports and micro drives that don't work anyway why don't i upgrade the kernel? I do that and it all seems okay when i compile but when i reboot the new kernel it runs (tries to boot) until it gets detecting the USB ports and finds 8(instead of 4, guess it considers the 2 firewire ports as a USB ports) and then stop there.

Now i got the following problems;

1. Swaret update kills the mouse and keyboard
2. Kernel 2.6.9 does not boot...stops at detecting USB ports.

What have i tried to fix this problems ?

edited xorg.conf
upgraded make
made kernel smaller

They don't work.

So if you can help that would be really nice...

Osh!

1) Have you replaced the Keyboard driver 'Keyboard' with 'kbd' in xorg.conf?
