Been lurking, and slowly configuring my Slack10 install, and finally got around to downloading Firestarter and readying for the installation. I downloaded it from Slackcare, and it supposedly has all of the libraries, etc. needed to reolve dependencies, etc.
I ran pkgtool, and it appeared to do something, and later I discovered that it had in fact created a shortcut in the system menu for Firestarter. Once I click that though, things go awry. It says that my gtku (sp) is not installed, blah blah blah.
Do I need to individually download and install each of the dependent libraries/utilities before I install this file? I thought it was all included in the Slackcare package.
Maybe I just have not had enough coffee yet this morning...
Go to linuxpackages.net and download firestarter, then run pkgtool and install it. After that as root type /usr/bin/firestarter. Should work, its the first thing i install on a new system and i have never had any dep errors. I would definetly try grabbing the package from linuxpackages, net maybe the one you have is corrupt.
Firestarter is up and jammin'. It's really amazing how many hits I recorded in only a few minutes of being up. Really scary... cool, at least I can surf in relative peace. Anyway, I need to do some system hardening, and make this thing a little more bullet proof.
Thanks for the help, this is STILL alot of fun to play with, and I am learning something in the meantime.
