Quick question is firefox 3.0.15 for slackware 12.1 & 12.2 the equivalent of firefox 3.5.4 for slackware 13? Or do I have to download 3.5.4 source and use a slackbuild for 12.1 & 12.2?
if your using Slackware 32bit it shouldn't matter which version of firefox you use since its just a redistributable binary from firefox, not compiled from source. If you you want to compile firefox from source just use the Slackware64 slackbuild and just change the arch line to i486.
Well, Slack 13 is using firefox 3.5.5 right now. For slack 12.2, the latest is 3.0.15. You don't have to do anything. This is the latest version Pat recommends for that version of slack. Not exactly sure what you mean?
If you're curious, I'm using 3.5.5 on 12.2. Because the 12.2 version of pkgtools does not recognize the txz package format, I build a new package in 12.2. I use the 13.0 build script for 3.5.5, and modify the script to create a tgz package. The one thing I like about 3.5.x over 3.0.x is running flash in full screen does not crash 3.5.x.
