firefox problem in Slackare 10.1

Hi,

I upgraded to Slackware 10.1, and the Xorg 6.8.1 was not working (it said that it could not find any keyboard driver), so I downgraded XOrg to the Slackwre 10 version which was XOrg 6.7, that worked.

Now everytime I run Firefox I get this error:
Code:
/root/firefox-1.0.2.installer/firefox-installer/firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libXfixes.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Where can I install this .so from?

Upgrade again to Xorg 6.8.1 you've to make a small change in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf for it work. Read the Slackware 10.1 changelog, it's documented there (and also on Xorg documentation).
The library you mention is included on that version of X.

This is quoted from the changelog:
Quote:
x/x11*6.8.1-i486-1.tgz: Upgraded to X.Org's X11R6.8.1 release.
Note that the name of the keyboard driver in the xorg.conf file has
changed from "Keyboard" to "kbd". You'll need to make this change in
order to start X.

Because you said you upgraded to Slackware 10.1 maybe it's not a Firefox problem, but one of the libraries Firefox uses (could be GTK).

Are you using a version of Firefox you have downloaded from mozilla.org or the slackware package?

Prior to Pat including Firefox I used to download it myself. When it was included I got into a real mess trying to install the slackware package. There was some sort of conflict between the different types of install. I have since made a fresh install of Slackware and use the official packages.

Probably nothing to do with your situation but I thought it was worth a mention
