Great stuff, guys. Thank you. I'll give these suggestions a try, with the LD_PRELOAD solution first. I'll post my results.

I'm having fewer crashes now since I upgraded to Firefox 3.5. I'm cautiously hopeful.

However, when I try the LD_Preload, I get this error:
