Finished Slackware installed and booted to a command prompt
I am a noob to Linux. I installed Slackware 10.0 and everything went fine until reboot. Now I can only access linux with the command prompt by logging in as root. I put the LILO into the mba. Help...
You need to add a user, using the command "adduser". Give the new user a password by running "passwd userid password". Logout of the root account (type "exit" or "logout") and login as the new user, then type "startx". A graphical user environment will load.
If you want to boot straight into a gui, you need to edit /etc/inittab and change the default number to the one that is for the gui. It's all explained in the file.
Thanks Reddazz it worked like a charm! Thanks to XavierP and Barton also for the fast replies, I will save these suggestions , and Work on getting into the GUI from the boot.
Thanks again!!!
