Finally got Slackware 10.1 running!

Finally got it up and running and so dam proud about it. This is the first distro that i actually down and dirty with. My first install without a gui, first kernel compile and install, first x confiruation from scratch, first sound configuration. after all of that i have to admit i think i found me a new home "the console" coming from a noob it wasn't that bad at all in the end its all worth it. completely amazed on how smooth and fast it runs. configurations seems to be easier which at first was kinda odd from me coming from a gui environment. overall. just 2 words...simply amazing!!!

thanks for all your help and guides with this install.

next for me is to try to get my touchpad working and i'm set.

?????.
I installed Slack for the first time earlier in the week, and the touch-pad on my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop worked "out of the box". Annoyed the hell out of me as I normally turn the "tap" off, and use the buttons.
Haven't bothered to look into it yet - the install was "playtime" on my office machine.

Slack gets a bad rap for being hard to install. I think some people see the lack of a fancy GUI and run screaming without even trying.

Slackware is definitely fun to play with, and there's a great deal of satisfaction that comes with a successful install. Congrats!
