Files being created with GMT timestamp

I had originally posted the following text in the Programming forum, but I noticed last night that files uploaded via FTP to the machine are also suffering from this same problem:

I've got a weird error. When I write a file using CFFILE, the timestamp is 6 hours ahead of our time zone. We're in Central Standard Time, which is GMT minus 6 hours, so I'm assuming that CFMX is just writing the files with a timestamp of Greenwich Mean Time. I looked in CF Administrator and haven't found a way to fix this. This server is running RH 7.3 and ColdFusion MX 6.1 with all relevant packages updated to at least semi-current versions.

So, files created using both ColdFusion server and FTP are given a GMT timestamp. When I edit a text file, though, using vi or some other editor, the timestamp is correct. Anyone know what could be causing this?
