2)apache gives me
Syntax error on line 205 of /etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/libexec/mod_vhost_alias.so into server: /usr/libexec/mod_vhost_alias.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started

1. Have you checked your sound device and the permissions? Seems to me though you left out some alsa support that is needed possibly as well.

2. Did you upgrade apache from the default version? The modules directory for mod_alias and all the others were moved and no longer in /usr/libexec and are now in /usr/libexec/apache/ I believe.

3. I don't really see anything that should affect your system. Anything you think is out of the ordinary?

From my researach I beleive you have to recompile ALSA for the kernel each time you upgrade either.

Why do we Linux users have to continually play guessing games?
I grow weary of it...
