Fatal Module not found

lsmod doesn't come up with anything and my sound/NIC cards aren't being picked up. I am using the 2.6.17.13 kernel. Modprobe was giving me a “Can't find 2.6 folder” when I tried to add modules. The /lib/modules only had the 2.4.33.3 folder in it. I recompiled the 2.6.17.13 kernel and modules so a 2.6 folder showed up. Now I get “FATAL: Module modulename not found”. Any ideas?

That means that you haven't installed the rc.modules-2.6.17.13 file. Inset the second cd, and go to the extra/linux-2.6.17.13 directory. Once there, do as root:

installpkg *.tgz

After it gets done, run /sbin/lilo and reboot. That should do it.

Modules without the module package

I have done this once, where you don't have to install the module pkg.
Just be sure to give the following commands while compiling:

make
make modules_install
make install
