Fatal: Illegal 'root' specification when compiling kernel

When compiling the kernel, at the 'make' stage I received this error.
Code:

Fatal: Illegal 'root' specification /dev/cryptvg/root
I do have an LVM/Luks setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

man initrd, then search for crypt. There are examples in the man pages.

Changing the Lilo configuration file to reflect the new volume group name and running 'make' again solved the problem.
