Failed Slackware install
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 400CS P1 laptop with a 775 mb HD & 40 mb ram....
I installed slack 4.0 via floppy only the "A" set was installed and I used a boot floppy to load the system once install finished....thats when my problems started....the vmlinuz screen turned into a long running what looked like assembly language code that would only stop by powering off..... I have no other way of getting an OS on this laptop as It has no CD-Rom and I have no NIC card for it...and it has no modem...nor can I aford another laptop.. needless to say I am lost at this point and honestly want to knoe what "I" did wrong any help will be greatly apreciated |
You should post some of the output here to see what it says.

3rd try is a charm
I did everything the same and boots JUST FINE now... what I was getting was 0x500 0x400 etc etc and was srolling the whole screen I have no idea what caused it so I have A & Y packages installed...now the tricky part is going to be getting X windows on here...I have a PLIP link but it is to a Windows 2000 machine...and I'll still need the N packages before I can network I believe...unless I only need a certain file for PLIP direct link.. |
