Fail reboot after upgrade with slackpkg

I am new on Linux and doing my first Slackware upgrade with slackpkg from Slackware 14.0 to -current.

after setting the mirror and blacklist, i run this command..
Code:

slackpkg upgrade-all
after upgrade, i choose the "O" option which overwrite old file with new, and I am not reconfigure lilo (i think that is the problem).

after that i run
Code:

slackpkg install-new
slackpkg clean-system

The problem appear when i reboot my Slackware. The screen appear like this
Code:

Loading Linux.......................................................................
...........................................................
BIOS data check successful

after that, my laptop restart again and LILO screen appear again and the loop never end. I am test with "inittab 3" but same happen.

I think this is because i am not reconfigure lilo after upgrade the kernel.

how to fix this..? am i must reinstall my Slackware?

Yes. And if you are new to Linux, better stick with 14.0 as -current is intended for testers only.

Also, to learn more visit docs.slackware.com.

Yes.The safest way to do that is not to use "slackpkg upgrade <pkg>" "or "upgradepkg <pkg>" but to rebuild the package from source using the SlackBuilds provided in the /source directory of the distribution media.

Yes if you are very careful. And if you want to upgrade many packages from -current it could end up being simpler than rebuild them all.

But if you are not in a hurry for these upgrades, you could just wait for -14.1 release and upgrade then guided by UPGRADE.TXT that you will find in the root directory of a mirror or a DVD.

You should have done it this way!

slackpkg update
slackpkg install-new
slackpkg upgrade-all

I have done it the way you did it a couple of times, what you need to do now is another slackpkg upgrade-all
to upgrade the new install.

you can boot the install CD/DVD, set swap, set target partition WITHOUT formatting it, then skip installing any packages and go directly to the configuration part in the installer to configure and reinstall lilo from there. Remember not to format your partitions!
