Exit KDE 4.6.5 to Console and Character Set Becomes Symbol(?)

After upgrading to Alien Bob's KDE 4.6.5 packages when I exit KDE to console (yeah, I do do that all the time) the character set appears to have become one of the symbol character sets (or some dang thing). All text is display as vertical lines, equal signs, upper left, lower right, middle, you name it symbols.

I did set LANG=en_US (from LANG=en_US.ISO8859-1) in /etc/profile.d/lang.sh but that didn't seem to help -- I need to reboot the thing so I can read what's on the screen.

Did I miss something important?

I've had the same issue affecting the tty from which KDE is launched, both when running AlienBOB's packages and when running packages built from his SlackBuilds on 13.37. I'm using the NVIDIA proprietary drivers on my 13.37 desktop and my netbook running -current has an Intel GMA3510. Lang is set to pt_BR-UTF-8 in lang.sh and lang.csh

I have seen it as well. However, I do boot to runlevel 4. If I change to 3, that can be a problem. If I boot first to runlevel 3, I never see the problem. Good thing I rarely have to go to runlevel 3 from 4.

You don't have to reboot, just use the command
Quote:
reset
to reinitialize the terminal.
