Question Executing startx immediately after login

Slackware is up and running. I'm getting used to it and like being close to the hardware....

What I am trying to do is create a laptop that automatically goes to the browser after login.

I.e., if user = browser, then "startx" is executed and then "Netscape" is brought up.

How do I do that?

Thanks,

Ray

Put startx in the users profile and put netscape in the .xinitrc file for the user.

That almost works...

XWindows does start and Netscape does load BUT...

Netscape appears to start before my windows manager (Fluxbox) is fully loaded. So, Netscape is running, the mouse works, but there is no windows manager.

I tried putting "fluxbox" into the .xinitrc, but then netscape didn't load.

Any ideas?

thanks!

Make startx the users shell,
and execute netscape from
.xinitrc ...

[edit]
Works here, I've tested it ;)

Show some curiosity, mate ;)

Try
man -k shell
man -k shell | grep [18]

Add startx to
/etc/shells

chsh -s startx browser

Cheers,
Tink
