eth0 link goes up then down then up


i keep getting this:
this from /var/log/messages:
Aug 21 16:11:40 darkstar kernel: eth0: link down
Aug 21 16:11:41 darkstar kernel: eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1

this is from /var/log/debug:
Aug 21 16:01:09 darkstar dhcpcd[2767]: broadcasting DHCP_DISCOVER

over and over in my log. its been fine for months this just started last night dunno whats wrong i didnt change any settings or anything any help would be much appriciated

Check the following things:
  • Ethernet cable is not flaky/crushed behind a furniture or rat/mice infested
  • Your router/switch/hub is rebooting - check the power lines and actual behavior - particularly for routers
  • Your ISP is doing something so they are rebooting your cable modem remotely - repeatedly at that

well i got it fixed i ended up doing : ifconfig eth0 down, then i killed dhcpcd then i restarted dhcpcd then i did ifconfig eth0 up and everything has been fine since
