Errors during loadup

When slackware is being loaded, i keep getting this errors:

Quote:
ide: failed opcode was: unkown
hda: dma_intr: status=0x51{DriveReady SeekComplete Error}
hda: dma_intr: error= ox84{Drive status Error Bad CRC}
ide: failed opcode was unknown.

And a little bit below it:
Quote:

inter isa pcic probe: not found.

databook tcic-2 PCMCIA probe: not found.

Do they mean anything?

i guess your HD is going to fail soon
try to back up your data before it's too late

Well, you shouldn't jump to conclusions. If you wanna know if your HDD is gonna fail try the Ultimate Boot CD:
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

There should be plenty of tests on there to help you diagnose if the HDD is gonna fail. You could also try activating the SMART capability (if your HDD supports it) and then starting the SMART daemon '/usr/sbin/smartd' (read 'man smartd' for more).

But be aware that doing tests on you harddrives does stress them, which is definitely not what you wanted to do if it were going to fail soon - which I, like willysr, tend to guess.

So backing your important data up should really be the first thing to do before doing any testing.

It might be you can't access the drive anymore, say, tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow. So backup!
