error when compiling new kernel


Im trying to compile a new kernel on my slack server.
now i'm running 2.4 kernel, and want 2.6.17 kernel.

I've followed the howto on this forum, but when i'm trying make manuconfig i'm getting this error::

I've tried with two different kernels, 2.6.4 and 2.6.17
But same error on bouth.

Please help me..

It looks like it is complaining about some critical missing source files while trying to compile. Download the linux source, re-extract it again and try running menuconfig one more time.

you need to install the kernel-headers package...

it's on your CD, or you can grab it here...
