Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Keep getting the following error message when I try using my dialup connection using a serial modem and Chestnut Dialer:
Serial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
Remote message: Password validation failure
PAP authentication failed
I've entered the username/password into the program. Anyone know a solution? Thanks.
I installed WVDial as an alternative but I get the following error message with that:
root@wolvix ~ # wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.56 (root@darkstar)
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
--> Modem initialized.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid phone number.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid login name.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid password.
Again I entered my username/password into the /etc/wvdial.conf file and saved it. Don't know what's wrong here either. Thanks.
