Error in partition. Unexpected Inconsistency, won't let me run fsck!
A couple nights ago one of my boxes froze up and I had to cut off the power supply. When restarted I got the dreaded message I just knew I was going to see. There were errors found in the first partition. It automatically tries to fixed it but about 90% through I get this error:
UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY: Run fsck Manually It then ask me to enter root password to enter system maintence. When I enter the root password I get: Bash id: command not found Rebooting Then it reboots. I can't do anything else this way so I'm assuming I need to run fsck on the slack cd. But I must be running something wrong. When I run something like: fsck -p hdb1 All it does is print out the commands. I also tried e2fsk but same result. I'm almost sure I used ext. 2 filesystem. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks for your time. |
i think you must run " e2fsck /dev/hdb1 "
after booting from cd. egag |
