error after upgrading to current

just did a clean standard install of 10.2 using everything from the cd including the 2.4 kernel and kde. everything starts up fine so i install slapt-get (please dont flame) and update the installed system and reboot, no issues, everything is fine.

then i change the source in slapt-getrc to current and proceed to do a --dist-upgrade --remove-obsolete --reinstall (i dont know if this is the problem, i seem to remember having this issue before when doing just --dist-upgrade). reboot and login and run startx. it tries to load then i get an error that says:

Could not start kdeinit. Check your installation. (click okay)

then i get:
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:
Could not read network connection list.
/home/user/.DCOPserver_hostname_0
Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running! (click OK)

now when i get back to the cli, i see that X shows some errors as well that relate to font paths and loading shared libraries libacl.so.1 and could not register with DCOPserver

any ideas? i have reinstalled a number of times using both the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels, it has done this before and after i have installed the nvidia driver. i have searched here and have checked permissions on my home folders, deleted .ICE and .DCOP files, created a new user, nothing seems to work.

HELP!

If it is saying it can't load a library, then install that package.

By the way, you can download ISOs of Slackware current here to install with, that tends to be easier than having to upgrade after the fact.

I had to add libacl.so.1 and libattr.so.1 to get KDE up and running after upgrading to 3.5.2.

Sometime, you have to "rm -r /home/*/.cache"
