Error 401 and request for "level_15_access"

I recently installed an apache 1.3 server on my slackware machine.

I can get to the site though localhost on my machine and through the IP on any other linux machine. The problem is that the rest of the network is windows and needs to access the site

when I try to access the ip i get a login prompt asking for username and password for "level_15_access" at 192.x.x.x

I know this is not from apache becuase the error 401 page is not the same one that is in Apache. Any help would greatly be appreiceated

What box has IP address 192.x.x.x? You say the error is not from Apache, so IP 192.x.x.x is not the Slackware box. Could the error be coming from your router? If the error is only seen on the Windows client boxes, then you might have a stale DNS cache; try IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS on the Windows clients.

you are hitting the web admin part of a cisco device. Is the windows machines on another segment? What cisco devices do you have on your network and whats your network layout?

Thanks for the help. It seems that my partener and I mistakenly created the static IP the same as a cisco switch. Problem Solved
