epson-printer-utility

Hi!

I used this trick to run epson-printer-utility and followed some instructions from Epson site.

But...
Epson-printer-utility says "The printer was not found", though printer is connected and prints via cups (through usb).

And...
Printer installed in Cups with Epson-backend driver (as described at Epson linux site) does not respond.

Code:
bash-4.3$ ps -e|grep ecbd
24877 pts/1 00:00:00 ecbd
Code:
bash-4.3$ lpoptions -d epsb
copies=1 device-uri=ecblp:/var/run/ecblp0 finishings=3 job-cancel-after=10800 job-hold-until=no-hold job-priority=50 job-sheets=none,none marker-change-time=0 number-up=1 printer-commands=none printer-info='Epson Backend' printer-is-accepting-jobs=true printer-is-shared=false printer-location printer-make-and-model='Epson L800 Series - epson-inkjet-printer 1.0.0-1lsb3.2 (Seiko Epson Corporation LSB 3.2)' printer-state=4 printer-state-change-time=1500301219 printer-state-reasons=none printer-type=2142220 printer-uri-supported=ipp://localhost/printers/epsb

Maybe related (or not), but there's a udev rule file in /opt/epson-printer-utility/rules/ which might be required for this tool to work properly.

You can copy (or create a symlink to) this file in /etc/udev/rules.d to check if that solves this particular issue. Note that it might be required to turn off/on the printer for this rule to be taken into account by the system, I guess.

Still does not work...

I even tried to install with

Code:
rpm --nodeps -i epson-printer-utility-1.0.2-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm
it automatically creates all symlinks and writes to startup scripts.

Result is the same.

I think, firstly I have to try to build epson-backend from source and test it with Cups...

Code:
rpm2cpio epson-printer-utility-1.0.2-1lsb3.2.src.rpm | cpio -id
tar xf epson-backend-1.0.1.tar.gz
./configure ...
UPD: backend built this way is not recognized by cups.
