Question Enabling SMP

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
How do you enable SMP for a multi-processor computer? I have a Dell Xeon P-3 dual processor. I am using Slackware 10.0.

Thanks!

You recompile the kernel with SMP support.

Well, I kind of thought you had to recompile the kernel to get the SMP support. I have looked all through the CD and man pages trying to find how to do this. I have a kernel I am working on. I just don't know how to compile the kernel with SMP support. And, I can't find any documents telling me how to do this. This is what I made this post for. To find out where to go to read the how-to to add SMP support.

cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
Processor type & features
Tick the "Symmetric multi-processing support"

But a minimal amount of curiosity should have
gotten you there if you already

also with SMP systems you wanna look for an option that says use real-time clock (not sure where it is off the top of my head)
