emu10k1 and other stuff

Couple of quick questions

firstly does the emu10k1 sound driver in the kernel work with soundblaster audigy cards or do i need the get the newer version and install it as a module?

Also been reading the slackware essentials book... and noticed it uses the convention that commands to be issued as normal user are preceded by a $ character and those issued by root a # character... is this specific to this book... or is there any kind of general convention for this sort of thing?

cheers :)

I installed my audigy card , i think a month ago.

You have to compile a new module .

there is a 'alpha / beta version to download

http://sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1

If I remember right i followed the instructions,
and it worked right away !

happy computing !

The $ and # prompts are at least a bash convention. Bash being the most popular shell.

Also to add, $ sign means your logged in as a regular user, # sign usually means your root. ;)
