hi there,

did you compile emacs by yourself? did you install something that messed your libs?
running...
Code:
ldconfig
can help.
more inputs, please. how did you install? did you compile something?

a default installation of emacs and slackware should not bring such messages.

regards

no i did not compile emacs by myself, its from the slackware install. And i did not do anything to the install yet besides change the hostname.

R u asking me to run ldconfig? I dunno how to, what should i input as the parameter?? the man page wasnt very newbie friendly......

Btw, i installed without xwindows, perhaps i left out some libraries for kde or gnome that emacs used as well?

Thx!

that is what i mean. this is the most important information. you should have mentioned that in your question.

the name of the library suggest already that is a dependency problem.

libXmu.so.6
X = > Xwindows ?
so, if you want to use emacs without Xwindows you should try
Code:
emacs-21.3-no-x11
i suppose now that you have installed emacs with everything.
this should be the easiest way.
if you don't have such application - emacs-21.3-no-x11 - then you need to install this support to get it
running without X.
i say that from the top of my head. i am not under slack now.
hope it help.
keep in touch.
