Is this possible? I don't know where to find the database for motd.

It's /etc/motd
But I believe you mean the fortune game that gives you a different quote every time you log on?

yeah. that's what i meant. i want to add a few quotes in there.

the databases are in /usr/share/games/fortune
when you are done creating your new file
the man page explains how to generate the .dat

don't forget to add the new db to the call in profile.d
