Easy-rsa scripts for OpenVPN still missing in 14.1?

A while ago the OpenVPN project decided to split the easy-rsa scripts into a separate package. Before that, in Slackware they were located at /usr/share/doc/openvpn. I asked the same question on this list a while ago, if I remember correctly, when I first noticed it - and the consensus at the time seemed to be that they should be added back. They are very valuable - as they are the only reasonably accessible way to setup a new CA for OpenVPN and corresponding keys and certificates.

Has it been decided that they are not going back in - or maybe it all slipped through the cracks somewhere? Anybody knows?

It would be nice if it were packaged and included in Slackware, but you can download Easy-RSA from https://github.com/OpenVPN/easy-rsa

Pat might be unaware OpenVPN has broken out its easy-rsa support scripts into a standalone package.

Meantime, I've put together easy-rsa Slackware packaging files and placed them at the slackdepot for the benefit of OpenVPN slackers
(and to make Pat's job easier if he decides to include them in the future).

Enjoy.

Considering these are all simple scripts and text files configurations, are all those make files required in there?

The "make" was superfluous; I just removed it. I chose to let "make install" do the installing though. You could script it using cp(1), install(1), cat(1), etc. if you prefer.

Thanks mancha. I'm still hoping that this thread will get picked up by Pat or one of the developers, and easy-rsa scripts will be included by default in Slackware - like it used to be.

Bump

I'm going to bump this in case it gets the attention of somebody on the Slackware team. The OpenVPN easy-rsa scripts used to be part of Slackware until the OpenVPN team split them into a different package. This functionality is sorely needed back in Slackware - either as a separate openvpn-easyrsa-scripts package, or as part of the main openvpn package. Here's hoping.
