Firewire/IEEE1934/iLink problem (DVD-RAM)

Ok, now everything is almost setup as I wanted but one thing (well, actually one and a ha;f but... hmmm ... anyway).

I recently have been able to configure my two soundcards with alsa (thx to you guys) and connected to one of those sound cards is a Lacie Firewire DVD-RAM.

I have checked linux1394.com to know if something was missing and after checking lsmod

Code:

agpgart 39576 0 (unused)
I can see that sbp2, ohci1394 and ieee1394 are loaded. The only thing I don't know is how to check where the device is in /dev/.

I have slack 9.1 with Dropline Gnome and updated to /current/ with swaret.

Also, I have another problem that will surface if I do get it to be mountable. I need to format the DVD ram in fs that is compatible with both Linux and Mac. Anyone got an idea on wich to pick?
