dutch public broadcast (npo), html5 video's fail to play

I'm trying to view html5 video's from the dutch public broadcast (www.npo.nl), without success. The message says "uw systeem kan deze video niet afspelen" which translates as "your system cannot play this video". I've asked npo, but of course they don't support linux.

I'm using slackware64-14.2, with firefox 52.5.2 with "play DRM content" enabled and widevine 1.4.8.903. Same problem with chromium 61.0.3163.79 from alien pastures.

The video's do play in scientific linux 7.4 with Firefox 52.5.1 and the same version of Widevine (!) so it seems to be a slackware problem... Any ideas?

They play fine for me (in chromium). My guess is you need to install some extra gstreamer packages to add the codec support. Do you have gst-plugins-bad and gst-plugins-ugly installed?

I had the same problem in Nov last for "Uitzending gemist" for Current64 -- so Firefox 56/57.
I resolved things then and there by installing ffmpeg, libvdpau, ocl-icd and SDL2 -- the gstreamer bad and ugly plugins turned out to be not necessary.
How this translates to 14.2 I do not know.

On slackware64 14.2, here, and no problems with it in chrome. No problems in firefox (Whichever the default for 14.2 is.)

Thanks for your responses. I decided to follow burdi01's advice first, one slackbuild at the time, and guess what: ffmpeg turned out to be enough!

If you're feeling lazy, you could always grab the package from AlienBob's respository. :)
