dual monitors in slack

I am looking to setup dual monitors. I was going to get a matrox, however after searching I could not find any recommendations. Does anyone use matrox, how are the drivers? Is it easy to seto dual monitors under slack?
Any suggestions would be great.
Cheers

I've been trying to get my slackbox to use dual monitors. So far no luck, i've searched the net over and over and found tons of pre made XF86Config file settings for dual monitors but they only want to work with a system that has two video cards instead of multi-head. I havn't tryed any Matrox cards yet. I currently have a GeForce FX 5200.

the FX5200 was the other card I was thinking about getting. Maybe it will have to be 2 cards and not dual head

also the nvidia drivers are a breeze to install.

I'm not sure, but I did read somewhere that if you want to use the multihead support of Matrox cards, you'll need to download the Matrox driver package for the mga_hal_drv.o and copy that one to your X drivers (you can use the 4.3.0 version in X.org). You can download those at http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...atest/home.cfm . These are not Slackware packages, but normal tar.gz archives.

I use ATI 9200SE which has dual head. And got dual head (monitor) working using xinerama in the xorg.conf.

I still haven't get the ATI driver installed. No time to do it. Too much hassle.

The main challage of dual monitor is to get it working with 3D acceleration. Xinerama split the video memory into 2 logical partition. 3D acceleration wants it to be combined. This is what I pickup from radeon documentation somewhere in freedesktop.
