Dual headed strangeness

Hi!

With one monitor, either the LCD built into the netbook or the ancient CRT, xterm displays fine. choose dual headed and xterm's font goes invisible, but only when I'm using my .Xresources. Take .Xresources out the way and xterm behaves fine in either configuration.

Stranger still, setting reverse video with xterm -bg black -fg white and xterm behaves itself either way.

Conky also has a similar(ish) problem, start in single headed and it's fine, start in dual headed and it too has invisible fonts.

From fluxbox/menu
[submenu] (Display) {Choose display options}
[exec] (netbook) {xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --output VGA1 --off}
[exec] (dual) {xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024 --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --right-of VGA1}
[exec] (vga only) {xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x1024 --output LVDS1 --off}
[end]

Video is built-in Intel GMA3150 on Slackware64-current.

Any ideas?

I have the same problems as you in 14-current and in 14.1, but not in 14.0.

I fixed it by just disabling the builtin LCD...

Thanks, that gels with my memory too.

Went looking for alternative to xterm, played with a half dozen or so, ranging from st (wow, too hard core for me, no delete or scrollback) through lilyterm (nice but it captures some of the ctrl key sequences, ^o was the first I noticed) before settling on roxterm (nice, easy to setup and once the tabs & menubar are hidden is perfect (though maybe not for low memory machines)). Of course also urxvt once the magic juju bones line up and a good looking font pops out.

On balance, it's not a configuration that I often run so I'll happily take the other improvements in Current from 14.1 (vlc in dual head no longer crashes X) and live with it.
