Dual-boot Slack/Ubuntu-install slack over XP-help with weird partition layout & lilo?
Ok, I got a 180GB HD that had WinXP/Ubuntu and I wanna install Slack onto the XP partition.
Problems; this HD I bought used with XP on it, first I just wanted to dual-boot XP/Ubuntu; but somethings wrong with XP-so I'm gonna install slack in it's place.
The issue is the HD itself-seems something went astray when I installed Ubuntu-the first 2MB of the HD are "unallocated", then hda1(win), then another "unallocated" 2MB, followed by Ubuntu and swap.
Don't know why, as it was a auto-install by Ubuntu-never seen it do that before...
Anyway-so I'm gonna install slack and I need advice on two things-
1) Possible to fix the unallocated spaces or leave it be?( I don't wanna lose Ubuntu/re-install)?
2) Need advice on Lilo install- will lilo, etc freak out about the partition layout?
Here is the info-
So, what gives?
And, how to set up lilo to boot both slack and ubuntu and will lilo accept that partition layout?
I don't know what the unallocated space is, I'd just leave it.
Why not boot Slackware with the existing Ubuntu grub and leave lilo out?
