Dual-boot Slack/Ubuntu-install slack over XP-help with weird partition layout & lilo?

Mornin,
Ok, I got a 180GB HD that had WinXP/Ubuntu and I wanna install Slack onto the XP partition.
Problems; this HD I bought used with XP on it, first I just wanted to dual-boot XP/Ubuntu; but somethings wrong with XP-so I'm gonna install slack in it's place.
The issue is the HD itself-seems something went astray when I installed Ubuntu-the first 2MB of the HD are "unallocated", then hda1(win), then another "unallocated" 2MB, followed by Ubuntu and swap.
Don't know why, as it was a auto-install by Ubuntu-never seen it do that before...
Anyway-so I'm gonna install slack and I need advice on two things-

1) Possible to fix the unallocated spaces or leave it be?( I don't wanna lose Ubuntu/re-install)?

2) Need advice on Lilo install- will lilo, etc freak out about the partition layout?

Here is the info-

Code:

root@bz-desktop:/home/bz# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 164.6 GB, 164696555520 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 20023 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xedaaedaa

Device Boot      Start        End      Blocks  Id  System
/dev/sda1  *          1        9868    79260742+  7  HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2            9869      20023    81570037+  5  Extended
/dev/sda5            9869      19740    79296808+  83  Linux
/dev/sda6          19741      20023    2273166  82  Linux swap / Solaris

But Gparted says this-screenshot
So, what gives?

And, how to set up lilo to boot both slack and ubuntu and will lilo accept that partition layout?
thanks

I don't know what the unallocated space is, I'd just leave it.
Why not boot Slackware with the existing Ubuntu grub and leave lilo out?

I suggest you leave those "unallocated spaces" alone. The first one contains some useful stuff, the partition table and master boot record. The second one contains your extended partition table.

No, lilo will not freak out but will in fact feel very comfortable. (can't believe I wrote that, I hate anthropomorphism)

By editing lilo.conf and running lilo. For further details try Google, the topic has been covered in the past.
