how did it kill your system.

When i installed is all i did was download the dropline installer run the installer and let it download and install all the applications and then reboot.

you may need to backup you XF86Config brfore you run the install as i think it replaces the config files and every thing.

When I installed Dropline it wouldn't let me start any other Xservices either. It gave me an error and put straight into Gnome Safe Mode. I felt really stupid once I rebooted and it worked on all other xservers.

Did you reboot after you installed it? I know that this seems very M$ but I had to with Dropline.

you don't backup X11, you backup the /etc/X11R6/XF86Config file.
Code:
# cp /etc/X11R6/XF86Config /etc/X11R6/XF86Config.old;
