Dropline Installer -- corrupt file

I'm attempting to download the Dropline Installer from the official Dropline site. No matter which mirror I choose, the .tgz file is unusable, and installpkg complains. Also, although the file size according to the mirror is 49K, the file size I get is 180K. As I mentioned, this is consistent behavior no matter which download site I attempt to use.

If anyone else is having similar problems and/or knows how to deal with this, I'd appreciate findiing out what the secret is.

Other details: the file I'm attempting to download is dropline-installer-2.0.5-i386-3dl.tgz I'm using Mozilla as my browser, along with the Download Manager tool, and I'm running Slack 9.0 After the download I log in as root and issue this command:

installpkg dropline-installer-2.0.5-i386-3dl.tgz

The error message I receive states that the file is corrupt, and (obviously) the installation fails. Thanks for any help/pointers on this. -- J.W.

Something is wrong when your downloading it most likely. I just downloaded it and its only 49kb.

Try this as you can obtain it from my ftp server from a terminal or command line if you would like:

wget ftp://trickykid.org/apps/dropline-in...5-i386-3dl.tgz

And then see if it comes up as 49kb and you can install without any problems.

Or you can actually just download it thru the browser by typing that same address in it..

Thanks Tricky

I actually attempted another download from the mirror (North Carolina) and this time it worked. I don't know what the heck I was doing wrong before, but it looks like it's OK now.

On a completely different topic, major *thanks* to you for all the contributions you have made to this board. I am learning tons just from reading your posts. -- J.W.

Could have just been a corrupt file on that particular mirror, probably nothing you were doing wrong on your end. Glad we could have be of help though. Enjoy dropline, I currently use it and really enjoy it.

Dropline Installer -- corrupt file

The file isn't corrupt , it's just not in .tgz format. It is in tar format.

Rename the file to : dropline***.tar
then gzip dropline****.tar
then (optional i think) mv dropline***.tar.gz dropline***.tgz

installpkg dropline***.tgz

and you're on your way...
