Dropline 2.18.3 *beta* installer now available

Well, folks... The time has come at last... A few hundred man hours and still climbing have culminated in bringing you...

dropline-installer-2.18-i686-3dl.tgz

With the release of Slackware 12, there's even less we have to replace (although we reserve the right to replace your entire spinal column at a moment's notice if it'll make Broadcom cards work), something like 8 packages, and a great number of things have undergone a complete overhaul to ensure correctness (and pedantry).

Note: Please bother with this unless you have a fast enough connection to tolerate downloading ~400Mb or so of binaries, and are planning to use a machine with network connectivity so that you can run the installer to get updates as they happen. Some things are still in flux (because it's beta and we're fixing as fast as we find issues), but the thing is probably 90% complete at this point.

...and remember, this is a beta, so if you try and send us bug reports of what happened when you installed it on your VM emulating a Chinese Dragonball processor running at 125Mhz that you upgraded from Slackware 9.1 straight to Slackware 12, after installing a bunch of things from LinuxPackages.net while you were really drunk, we will not be very happy with you. Do yourself a favor and use a clean install of Slackware 12.

Best release post ever.

When my Slack disks get here I'll definitely drop in dropline... If it's out of beta, even better

Ditto! I was just checking out your build scripts for your GNOME release for a few things yesterday. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=567725 . It's good to see someone else working on GNOME for Slackware.
