driverfs and isapnp in new kernels

Is there anyone outhere that has tried to get isapnp hardware working with the new generation of kernels? I'm trying to get my cs4236 card to work, and looking at the very sparse documentation around the web I concluded that at least it's possible that my problem is that the isapnp configuration in the 2.6.0 kernels now depends on driverfs. Now, I've been there before, with devfs, and I'm not too keen on setting up a new driver/device filesystem only to have it obsoleted with the next kernel revision. So before I embark on that I want to make sure that I really need to.
