Download problem with Firefox and possibly Thunderbird in - current

I recently started having a problem downloading with Firefox in -current. Clicking a download link yields:

Code:
/tmp/xf+vDA5T.gz.part could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.
A related error comes from thunderbird:
Code:
Unable to write email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mail box.
/tmp has permissions set to 766 so it should not be an issue with that. The /home partition has 29 G free and the patition with /tmp has 9 G free so there should be no issue there either. I can download files with wget with no problem so it's not an internet related problem either. The thunderbird issue seems to be related to the newest update that was released to -current. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Try, as root and without X started:

Code:
rm -fr /tmp
mkdir -m 1777 /tmp
Then reboot. Rebooting is not strictly needed, but I'd do it just in case.
