Downgrading from current to slack 10
 

Is this possible? I'm moving from a desktop oriented setup to more of a server type and stability has become an issue, I'm currently running an up to date current system but I want to go back to plain old 10... any ideas how?

Not sure... but current in slackware is pretty stable... it's been mainly bug and security fixes so far... you could search through the changelogs and possibly replace each package but I'm not sure it's worth it... like I said before... this is slackware and current is just as stable as the actual release in my experience...

A complete reinstall will probably give the best results in the shortest time. And since you're changing the purpose of the machine, excisting configuration has to be done again ( maybe you can save the /etc dir before reïnstalling the whole thing)

There's not much difference between 10.0 and current, there are a lot of changes like 2.4.27 kernel and kde3.3 that have not gone into current yet

Hmm, well all things considered, I think i will do a diff of the the changelogs, then manually remove and reinstall any packages that have been changed, since the logs don't seem all that big anyways.

On a related note, i've tried changing my version from current to 10 in swaret just to see if swaret would want to downgrade me and here is what happend:

But thats the only package it prints... strange. Anyways thats not how I will do it, I just wanted to see what would happen :D I think some _complications_ may arise when swaret tries to use the upgradepkg command on that, lol.
