Don't want dhcpd to start on startup

Hi, I'm trying to get it so that I don't start up with dhcpd, and I ended up doing a 'chmod -x httpd' in /etc/rc.d/, which I thought would work. When I start up my computer though, I still get a message saying 'waiting for dhcp response', or something like that, at which point it takes a couple seconds to realize I'm not connected to the internet. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What or why would the apache server have to do with you obtaining an IP at startup? That's what httpd is for.

You need to edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 file to not have DHCPD startup at boot time or reconfigure to use a Static IP, etc. Or just run netconfig to reconfigure your network settings.
