Don't halt?

Well I fixed my problems with cdrom (thx to those who help )

now i have another issue, when i send the commando shutdown, stop all services, and then displays Power Down, and turn down my ventilators, but my machine doesn't turn off, only vents, and i stay in terminal???

maybe a bad compiled kernel?
Distro is Slack-9.0RC3 (or -current 14/03), bug?
thx again

Hmmm...is your kernel configured for ACPI or APM? If the machine is newer, I believe you want ACPI. Within the kernel config menu, under General Setup, you'll want to enable kernel support for the following...

ACPI Support
ACPI Bus Manager
System
Button

This should fix you up.

yes...you will need to recompile.
After you make the changes...
save your new configuration upon exiting the menuconfig and recompile.
